A new course was launched last week on pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) and pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT), through the Surgical and Translational Research Centre at the University of Auckland. It was timely as dietitians can now prescribe enzyme replacement. The course was developed by Kylie Russell (dietitian) and John Windsor (pancreatic surgeon) and supported by Dietitians NZ and Viatris Ltd. 40 dietitians attended from around the Auckland region, and feedback for the case based teaching was excellent. The plan is to take this course on the road, and to provide the next one in Christchurch in September.
