STaR Centre scientist Dr Jiwon Hong is the first in New Zealand to receive funding from the USA-based National Pancreas Foundation. She will be using the grant to test novel anti-inflammatory drugs to treat Acute Pancreatitis, for which currently there is no effective treatment. Dr Hong is a Hugo Charitable Trust Research Fellow at the Surgical Translational Research Centre.
