Alimetry – a University of Auckland spinout company has been named as a finalist in three categories in the 2021 New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards.

STaR Centre Director Prof. Greg O’Grady, and founder of Alimetry completed his PhD in Surgery and Bioengineering at the University of Auckland in 2011, before completing his surgical training (FRACS) in Australia in 2014. He established the ‘Surgical Engineering Laboratory’ and leads research focused on medical device development, translational gastrointestinal physiology, and neuromodulation. He is a practicing colorectal surgical fellow at Auckland City Hospital.

Alimetry is a medical devices company making advanced diagnostics that non-invasively sense the gut. Alimetry was founded by Armen Gharibans, Peng Du, Stefan Calder, and Greg O’Grady in 2019, based on 10 years of world-leading gut electrophysiology research out of the Auckland Bioengineering Institute and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
